OUR TEAM and WHAT WE DO

The Trash Museum is a unique history museum that strives to showcase the evolution of American consumption through the preservation and exhibition of discarded material goods. We aim to promote conversations on waste production and management while celebrating the ingenuity of individuals who transform trash into treasure.

Meet the Team!

Director

The director has the overall responsibility to carry out the organization’s mission and policies established by the Board, including the financial, educational, collections, and operations management of the organization.

Curator/Historian

Museum curator will manage an institution’s collections, specifically, the acquisition, care, and display of their institution’s objects. When filling role of historian, the curator will gather historical data from various sources, including archives, books, and artifacts and analyze and interpret historical information to determine its authenticity and significance as it relates to relevant exhibits.

Collections Manager

The collections manager's responsibility is to assist with the movement of permanent

collection artifacts, whether that be for a gallery rotation, conservation assessment, or photography, and clean artifacts on display and in storage. The collections manager is also responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of Collections Management department processes and protocols.

Education Director

Museum educator is responsible for developing and carrying out all of the museum’s various education and public programs. Contributes to educational research efforts and assists in the development and production of written educational materials. Develops and presents gallery talks, lectures, seminars, symposia, and other educational programs. May coordinate volunteers and/or docents.

Marketing/Public Relations Coordinator

The Marketing/ Public Relations coordinator will utilize traditional, print, social, and other forms of new media to bring visitors to the Trash Museum, to museum events, fundraisers, and programs, and to foster museum growth. Oversee production of marketing materials including setting up project schedules, issuing insertion and work orders, obtaining vendor bids, coordinating with printers and mailing services to assure timely, high-quality delivery.
