During the fall of 2021, I treated an early 20th-century book at the University of Delaware. It was not structurally intact and its aesthetic appearance was compromised. The book cover had detached from the text block and sustained a loss on the spine, the brittleness of the aging paper resulted in detached pages and losses.

I employed dry cleaning methods on the covers and each page. I then utilized localized humidification to flatten "dog-eared" pages. Torn pages and losses were repaired using Japanese tissue paper and wheat starch paste. I removed the super from the book, toned  book cloth for the spine's loss, and recased the book using rebacking methods.
