Internship at the Georgia Archives 

During my internship at the Georgia Archives, I received foundational training in book and paper conservation, with a focus on hands-on practice, technical literacy, and preventive collections care. The experience began with crafting a hand-bound book, which served as a platform for exploring conservation techniques such as surface cleaning, adhesive removal, and minor repair. I applied these techniques to test pieces and real archival materials, refining my skills in both treatment execution and object assessment. I also engaged in monitoring temperature and relative humidity levels to support environmental control strategies, gaining insight into holistic conservation planning. Weekly meetings allowed for collaborative discussions on conservation ethics, treatment decision-making, and current trends in archival preservation, enriching my theoretical and practical understanding of the field.
