Internship at the Sacred Harp Museum 

At the Sacred Harp Publishing Co. Museum, I had the opportunity to get hands-on collections and conservation work while helping preserve the art of shape-note singing. During this internship, I worked on a large-scale cataloging project focused on preserving the rich musical tradition of Sacred Harp singing. I cataloged over 300 items—including books, VHS tapes, and DVDs—ensuring each was accurately documented and properly stored. I also performed minor conservation treatments, such as carefully removing old tape and labels from book spines using a heated micro spatula, a technique I learned during training at the Georgia Archives. To protect especially fragile volumes, I constructed custom corrugated clamshell boxes for safe long-term housing. Alongside treatment work, I researched best practices for VHS storage and simple page repair techniques, contributing to the museum’s efforts to care for and preserve a unique and often overlooked part of Southern musical heritage.
