Public History Internship
Public History Internship at Sacred Harp
During the spring of 2025, I concluded my PBACC in Museum Studies from the University of West Georgia by retroactively fulfilling a public history internship, using my time at the Sacred Harp Museum. In this course, I was tasked with completing a daily log, internship evaluations, brief public history-oriented writings on various topics, and a final reflective essay.

Internship Daily Log
Over the course of my internship, I kept a timelog and notes on what I worked on each day. For this course, I expanded the log into a spreadsheet with fuller notes, images, and totaled work hours. This allowed me to better reflect on my progress, document key milestones, and clearly demonstrate the scope of my contributions.
Short Responses
Throughout the semester, I was also tasked with a couple of short responses to topics within the field of public history and how they related to my experiences during my internship. The first response was on the interdisciplinary nature of public history and what skills may be utilized. The second response detailed how public history and my internship institution serve society.
Final Essay
As a final assessment of what I learned throughout this internship, I completed a final reflective essay. This paper not only utilized my own experiences, museology knowledge, and internship notes but also connected what I had learned and experienced to public history as a career, the impact of local institutions, and how it all affected my career and academic decisions moving forward.
