Internship at the Newnan Coweta History Center 

During my internship at the Newnan-Coweta History Center, I engaged in an array of collections-focused tasks that blended hands-on conservation, exhibition preparation, and historical research. I performed delicate cleaning treatments on artifacts such as historic wooden furniture and a Pharaoh Board, utilizing low-suction vacuuming and precision tools to ensure object safety. I authored a condition report and conservation proposal for a 1920s crazy quilt, incorporating research into its origin, construction techniques, and historical context to inform future care. I assisted in the curatorial preparation of garments by dressing mannequins for themed exhibits and helped locate and stage artifacts for public display. Cataloging responsibilities included assigning accession numbers and physically tagging a loan collection using Chenhall’s Nomenclature, further deepening my familiarity with museum documentation standards. Additionally, I contributed to a partial inventory of the institution’s primary collections space in anticipation of an upcoming relocation, ensuring a smoother transition for the museum’s artifacts and institutional memory.
